(입트영) Chemical Castration

Chemical Castration(13.3.13)
Back in July, 2011, Korean lawmakers passed a bill gives judges the power to sentence sex offenders to undergo drug treatment called chemical castration. The treatment is designed to diminish libido and sexual activity. This controversial penalty can only be used on criminals age 19 or above who have attacked children under the age of 16. Korea is the first country in Asia to allow chemical castration as punishment. Korea’s first ever chemical castration sentence was handed down to a 31-year-old repeated pedophile in January this year. However, there are some concerns over human rights issues and possible side effects.
