Cheongdo Bullfighting Festival
When you think of bullfighting, you probably picture a do-or-die between a brave man and a ferocious bull. Korean bullfighting, however, is nothing like that. There isn’t much blood or gore. You won’t even see a matador waving his red cape. There are only two bulls clashing their heads and horns together. Inside a bullfighting arena, two Korean hanwoo bulls duke it out until one gets tired and refused to fight. If you want to to check out 1,000-years-old Korean bullfighting in person, you can head down to Cheongdo. This small town in Gyeongsang Province hosts the annual Cheongdo Bullfighting Festival. It starts today!
